What is coaching?

My job as a certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coach is to support you in making changes in the here and now. As a recovered coach, I am here to show you that full recovery is possible. I will support you in connecting to and strengthening your healthy self, so you can begin to dialogue with your eating disorder self. I can support you through meals or clothes shopping or other situations that are challenging for you in regards to your ED behaviors. I am here for you to text when the eating disorder self gets loud and you need extra support to get through it. Working with a coach gives you one more layer of support in order to do the hard work of eating disorder recovery. I do not replace your relationship with your therapist, doctor or dietitian, but rather support you in learning the skills necessary to recover.

I am not a therapist. I will not diagnose you or work with you on the “why” or cause of your eating disorder. I will stay with you in the present to work on the “how” so that you can make meaningful change and work toward full recovery. I am also not a dietitian. I will not provide you with a meal plan or tell you what you should be eating. My job is to support your team of professionals (therapist, dietitian, doctor, psychiatrist) to help you make the changes necessary to become recovered. I will work with them and take suggestions from them about goals that we can work on together.

The phoenix is a symbol of healing and renewal. This majestic bird rises from the ashes.
